Crawford Door Sales has always and continues to pride itself as a leader.

Crawford Door Sales proudly celebrates over 80 years in the door business. Known as "The Door People," Crawford’s previous identifiable logo was of the "magic magician." Crawford was the first company to come up with the garage door remote control in the 1950’s and people just thought it was "magic!" Crawford has maintained leadership in quality since 1929. Crawford Door has helped branch privately both nationally and internationally. As the original Crawford Door, much credit is owed to the current owner and family of William L. Hughes, a very talented business man and leader since 1974.

William L. Hughes came to Michigan after serving his country in World War II. Since 1948 he has remained local and is well known for his athletic achievements at Michigan State University. These include, All American, Defensive Captain, AP All-Midwest Eleven, and INS All Midwest teams, as well as co-captain of the team. Once graduating from MSU, and denying a 2nd round draft to the Cleveland Browns, William, utilizing his BA in business, quickly worked his way to the top at Crawford Door. After a short period Mr. Hughes took over sales and management, which led to his eventual purchase of the company in 1974.

Bill believed in absolute customer satisfaction. He ran his company like a family, and invited his own family to join the team. William tripled the overall sales by hiring his two, very talented sons, to help with the business. After attending Michigan State University, Gary W. Hughes started at Crawford Door in 1975 and a younger brother, Todd P. Hughes, began work at Crawford in 1979. Although, the boys had begun their careers under their father, each were treated as any other employee, having to work their way from the bottom up.

With much hard work and outstanding sales careers, Gary and Todd have now earned Vice President positions and outstanding reputations in the door industry and the community. There is now a third generation of the Hughes family working in the business. Ms. Heather R. Hughes, daughter of Gary, has been at Crawford Door since 1999. Heather, is currently in charge of Hollow Metal Sales and is Crawford Doors' "Total Door " representative.
